About this trip

This short spiritual circuit covers three of North India's holiest places by road. Varanasi, one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities, is experienced from the river: an evening Ganga aarti at Dashashwamedh ghat, a sunrise boat ride past the bathing ghats and a visit to the Kashi Vishwanath temple and its new corridor to the river, with Sarnath, where the Buddha gave his first sermon, a short drive away. Ayodhya, on the Sarayu river, is the birthplace of Lord Rama, and the Ram Mandir opened in January 2024 is now the focus of the town along with Hanuman Garhi and the Sarayu ghats' evening aarti. Prayagraj, where the Ganga and Yamuna meet the mythical Saraswati at the Triveni Sangam, is visited by boat, with Anand Bhavan and the Allahabad Fort's Akshayavat on the way. Temple visits follow their own queue and dress rules, which the guide will explain. Hotels, meals and inclusions are set by the supplier and listed for confirmation.

In Shivaism creation and destruction are part of a single whole. Pale blue smoke rises into the air from this sacred site where those lucky enough to die in the city of Varanasi or
