About this trip

London rewards a slow week. The core sights are the Tower of London with the Crown Jewels, Westminster with Big Ben and the Abbey, Buckingham Palace and its guard change, and the river between them. Many of the great museums are free to enter, including the British Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum, which keeps a family trip affordable once you are there. The London Eye, a Thames cruise and the view from a tall building fill a second day, Covent Garden and the West End an evening. From London, day trips reach Windsor Castle, the oldest occupied castle in the world, Stonehenge's prehistoric stone circle, or Oxford's colleges; a theme park outside the city is an alternative for children. Rail, hotels and tickets are set by the supplier and listed for confirmation.
