About this trip

This is the Europe trip Indian families most often ask for: Swiss scenery and Paris in one journey. The Swiss half is based in the Interlaken area between two lakes, from where a mountain day goes up to Jungfraujoch, at 3,454 m the highest railway station in Europe, with its ice palace and glacier views, weather permitting. A second day covers Lucerne's wooden Chapel Bridge and a lake cruise, with the option of Mount Titlis and its rotating cable car. Zurich or Geneva serves as the gateway. A direct TGV Lyria train then runs from Switzerland to Paris in about four hours. Paris days take in the Eiffel Tower, a Seine river cruise, the Louvre's exterior and glass pyramid with an optional visit inside, Montmartre and the Sacre-Coeur, and a day for Versailles or a theme park outside the city. Trains, hotels, meals and mountain tickets are set by the supplier and listed for confirmation.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Zurich, to Interlaken

    Arrive in Zurich and travel by road or train to Interlaken. Evening walk along the Hoheweg.

  2. Day 2: Jungfraujoch

    Train via Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen up to Jungfraujoch for the Sphinx terrace, ice palace and Aletsch glacier views. Return by late afternoon.

  3. Day 3: Lucerne and Mount Titlis

    Day to Lucerne for the Chapel Bridge and Lion Monument, with an optional Mount Titlis trip from Engelberg or a lake cruise.

    A free day: Harder Kulm viewpoint, a lake boat on Thun or Brienz, or Trummelbach falls.

    TGV Lyria from Basel or Geneva to Paris. Evening Seine cruise.

    Eiffel Tower (summit or second floor as ticketed), Champs-Elysees and Arc de Triomphe, then the Louvre pyramid with an optional museum visit.

    Choose a day at the Palace of Versailles and its gardens, or a theme-park day at Disneyland Paris (tickets booked ahead).
