Six days in Bali: three nights in Ubud for temples, rice terraces and Kintamani, then two nights on the south coast for beaches and Uluwatu.
This six-day Bali holiday pairs the island's cultural heart with a relaxed beach stay. Three nights in Ubud, the arts and culture centre of Bali, cover the Monkey Forest, the royal palace and the Campuhan ridge walk. A full day then heads north to the Tegallalang rice terraces, the holy-spring temple of Tirta Empul near Tampaksiring and the Kintamani highlands, where Mount Batur, an active volcano, and its caldera lake form the backdrop. The last two nights move to the south coast, at a beach area such as Seminyak or Nusa Dua, leaving time for the sea, spa or shopping, plus an excursion to Uluwatu Temple on its cliff at the tip of the Bukit Peninsula, where a Kecak dance is staged each evening. Tanah Lot, a sea temple on a rock off the west coast, can be swapped in for a sunset visit. Bali has a dry season from roughly May to September and a wetter spell from about October to April, so the right dates matter. Traffic on the main roads can be heavy, which is why days are kept short on the move. Final routing, hotels and what is included are confirmed by the supplier before booking.
Arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport, meet your driver and transfer to Ubud; allow generous time because road traffic in southern Bali can be heavy. Check in and take the evening easy with a walk around the town centre.
Walk through the Ubud Monkey Forest, where the macaques can grab belongings, so keep food and loose items secure. Visit the Ubud Palace area and one of the local art museums, then end the day with the Campuhan ridge walk, a popular sunset spot. Evening is free; traditional dance shows are staged in town.
Drive north to the Tegallalang rice terraces, about 10 km from Ubud, for the terraced-field views. Continue to the water temple of Tirta Empul near Tampaksiring, where Balinese Hindus take part in purification rituals; dress modestly. Finish in the Kintamani highlands for views of Mount Batur and its caldera. The volcano climb is an optional extra and is not part of the base itinerary.
Check out and transfer to the south coast, to a beach area such as Seminyak or Nusa Dua, depending on the hotel. Settle in and spend the afternoon on the beach or by the pool. Meals and evening are free.
Visit Uluwatu Temple, set on a cliff at the southwest end of the Bukit Peninsula; long-tailed macaques live there, so hold on to sunglasses and phones. Stay for the evening Kecak dance staged on the cliffside. Tanah Lot can be offered instead if you prefer a west-coast sunset; its rock temple is only reachable on foot at low tide.
Check out and use the morning for a last swim or shopping, depending on your flight time. Transfer to Ngurah Rai Airport for your return flight; remember the airport tourist levy, which can be paid online before arrival or as per current rules.
