Sydney's harbour and Blue Mountains, the Gold Coast's theme parks, and Cairns for the Great Barrier Reef and rainforest.
Australia's east coast gives families three very different stops. Sydney offers the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, Bondi Beach and a ferry to Manly, with a day in the Blue Mountains for the Three Sisters rock formation and the scenic railway. The Gold Coast in Queensland is Australia's theme-park capital, with several large parks a short drive from the Surfers Paradise beachfront, plus a koala sanctuary. Cairns, in the tropical north, is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, the world's largest coral reef system stretching over 2,300 km, visited by day cruise to a pontoon or island for snorkelling, and to the Daintree and Kuranda rainforests reached by scenic railway and cable car. Domestic flights link the three. Hotels, flights, park tickets and reef cruise are set by the supplier and listed for confirmation.
